Gratitude and Global Responsibility

As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s a time to pause, reflect, and give thanks. For our U.S. community, it’s a cherished tradition—but its deeper message transcends borders. Gratitude is not just about celebrating abundance; it’s about acknowledging our shared humanity and the responsibility that comes with it.

This season, let’s embrace the spirit of giving on a global scale—thinking beyond ourselves and our immediate circles. Whether it’s extending kindness, championing fairness, or driving impactful change, gratitude can be a powerful force to unite us as planetary citizens.

If food waste were a country, it would be the third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the U.S. We could call it Wasteland.

  • What if instead of wasting food, businesses redirected unsold meals to the millions in need?

  • What if individuals treated leftovers like opportunities instead of trash?

  • What if governments banned food waste in landfills and scaled composting programs globally?

As we enjoy the season of abundance, it’s crucial to reflect on the imbalance between those who have too much and those who have far too little. At TLL, we believe in transforming awareness into action. From supporting initiatives that tackle food insecurity to fostering empathy in leadership, every small step toward equity matters.

No matter where you are in the world, we can all embrace a simple Thanksgiving mindset:

  • Be grateful for what we have.

  • Be mindful of how we use it.

And act to make a difference—for the planet, for people, and for progress.
