Closing 2024: Are We Focused on What Truly Matters?

Dear TLL Community,

As we wrap up a year filled with breakthroughs, challenges, and opportunities, it’s time to ask some crucial questions:

• Are the leaders and innovators of today truly focused on what matters?

• What would you like to see more of as we move forward?

• How can we, as a global community, create lasting impact in 2025?

December offers us the perfect moment to reflect and realign. Let’s use this time to ensure that our efforts, conversations, and collaborations are driving real progress where it counts.

Are We Asking the Right Questions?

As the pace of change accelerates, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s truly important. Let’s take a moment to zoom out:

🌍 Climate Crisis:
Hurricane Helene and Milton, record-breaking wildfires, and unprecedented droughts remind us that climate change isn’t a future problem it’s happening now. Are we doing enough to address this existential threat? Who are the ones deciding our collective future? Are they ethical? Are they trustworthy? Are they good ancestors? If not, how can we address this?

🤖 Technology’s Role:
AI and tech have transformed industries and redefined what’s possible in just a few short years. But are we leveraging these tools responsibly, focusing on the right problems, and minimizing harm to our planet and society? Do we have ways to optimize the energy and water usage of the new technology? Do we represent the global population or it’s a monopoly game of a few? How can we ensure responsible measures?

🌱 Leadership for Good:
Are today’s leaders driving the change we need, or are we still distracted by short-term gains and superficial achievements? Do we have role-model-type leaders on top of things? Do we highlight and “worship” the right ones and give them the ‘go’ to play with our future?
